Her Aegis Combat System guarded the skies as Tomahawk missiles arced toward Baghdad, and her crew bore witness to one of the most decisive military campaigns in a generation. Named for the WWII beachhead where Allied forces held through brutal German counterattacks before breaking out across Italy, Anzio carried that legacy of tenacious resolve into a new century.
