The 2002-03 WESTPAC deployment of USS Bunker Hill (CG-52) unfolded in the aftermath of September 11 and the launch of Operation Enduring Freedom, with Operation Iraqi Freedom commencing during the deployment in March 2003. Bunker Hill sailed in company with her carrier strike group through the Western Pacific and into the Arabian Sea and Persian Gulf, a ship and crew transformed by the realities of a nation at war. The Aegis cruiser's radar painted the sky, her strike cells stood loaded, and her crew kept an unblinking watch on a sea lane that now carried the weight of history.
