In December 1998, Carl Vinson's air wing helped execute Operation Desert Fox, launching precision strikes against Iraqi weapons programs in a four-day air campaign. The following spring, NATO launched Operation Allied Force over Kosovo while Carl Vinson's crew remained on watch in the Gulf.
