USS Chung-Hoon (DDG-93) stepped onto the world stage with her 2006 maiden deployment — the first operational chapter for a ship carrying one of the Navy's most distinguished names. Her namesake, Rear Admiral Gordon Pai'ea Chung-Hoon, was a Pearl Harbor survivor, Medal of Honor nominee, and the first person of Asian descent to graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy, class of 1934. For every sailor aboard that maiden voyage, this deployment was the beginning — of a career, of a legacy, and of a crew bound together by pride in the name on their ship.
