USS Chung-Hoon (DDG-93) stepped onto the world stage with her 2006 maiden deployment — the first operational chapter for a ship carrying one of the Navy's most distinguished names. Her namesake, Rear Admiral Gordon Pai'ea Chung-Hoon, was a Pearl Harbor survivor, Medal of Honor nominee, and the first person of Asian descent to graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy, class of 1934.
