In 1980, USS Constellation (CV-64) deployed into one of the most tension-charged environments of the Cold War era. The Iran hostage crisis was at its height — 52 Americans held captive in Tehran while the nation watched and waited. Constellation and her battle group joined the forces standing watch in the Indian Ocean during that long standoff, projecting power and resolve in waters where the stakes could not have been higher. "Connie" had been to Vietnam and back; she knew what it meant to be ready when it counted. The 1980 crew kept her ready.
