USS Doyle (FFG-39) was an Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided missile frigate commissioned in 1982 and named for Vice Admiral James H. Doyle, who commanded the amphibious task force at Inchon in September 1950 — one of the most audacious and decisive amphibious operations in military history. A versatile Atlantic Fleet frigate, Doyle spent her career escorting convoys, conducting counter-narcotics operations, and carrying out the full range of missions the Perry class was designed for. She served through the Cold War's final decade and into the post-Cold War drawdown, decommissioning in 2002 after twenty years of dependable blue-water service.
