USS Enterprise returned to the Persian Gulf in 1998-99, answering a familiar call. When Saddam Hussein defied UN weapons inspectors in December 1998, the United States responded with Operation Desert Fox — a four-day campaign of precision strikes against Iraqi military and government targets. Enterprise's air wing was in the thick of it, flying missions over Iraq the same way she had flown missions over Hanoi thirty years before. Different desert, same resolve.
