USS John F. Kennedy (CVA-67) deployed on her 1969 cruise, her first overseas deployment following commissioning in September 1968. Operating in the Mediterranean as the Navy's newest and most capable attack carrier, Kennedy established herself as a formidable force during a period of heightened Cold War tensions.
