USS Kearsarge (CVS-33) Ship's Crest Sweatshirt

USS Kearsarge (CVS-33) was an Essex-class aircraft carrier that earned a place in both naval and space exploration history. Redesignated as an anti-submarine warfare carrier, Kearsarge became famous as a recovery ship for NASA's Mercury program — she recovered John Glenn's Friendship 7 capsule in 1962 and Gordon Cooper's Faith 7 in 1963. During the Vietnam era, she conducted multiple WESTPAC deployments as an ASW carrier until her decommissioning in 1970.
