USS Kitty Hawk (CVA-63) 1968-69 Cruise Sweatshirt

<p>USS Kitty Hawk (CVA-63) was a Kitty Hawk-class attack carrier commissioned on April 29, 1961. Her 1968–69 Western Pacific deployment unfolded in the wake of the Tet Offensive, one of the war's most dramatic turning points. Operating with Carrier Air Wing Eleven from Yankee Station in the Gulf of Tonkin, Kitty Hawk's crew carried out combat sorties over North and South Vietnam as the United States began reassessing its strategy. Homeported at Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, she remained a central pillar of the Navy's air campaign. This sweatshirt commemorates all who served during that deployment.</p>
