Named for the Battle of Princeton fought during the American Revolution on January 3, 1777, she served for over three decades as a key surface combatant in the Pacific Fleet. Princeton gained enduring fame after surviving a devastating double mine strike in the Persian Gulf on February 18, 1991, during Operation Desert Storm — a testament to her crew's extraordinary damage control.
