USS Rushmore (LSD-47) is a Whidbey Island-class landing ship dock commissioned on August 1, 1991, and homeported in San Diego, California. Named for the iconic Mount Rushmore National Memorial in the Black Hills of South Dakota, the ship symbolizes the bedrock strength of the nation's founding ideals.
