USS Saratoga (CV-60) 1990-91 Cruise Sweatshirt

The USS Saratoga (CV-60) was a Forrestal-class aircraft carrier commissioned on April 14, 1956, and homeported at Naval Station Mayport, Florida. The 1990-91 cruise was Saratoga's most operationally significant deployment since Vietnam. Sent to the Red Sea as part of Operation Desert Shield, she and Carrier Air Wing Seventeen were in the fight from the opening night of Operation Desert Storm on January 17, 1991, launching strike aircraft into Iraq and Kuwait. For 43 days her pilots flew combat missions against Iraqi air defenses, command centers, and ground forces, helping drive the liberation of Kuwait. This sweatshirt honors the crew of USS Saratoga who served during the historic 1990-91 Desert Storm cruise.
