USS Saratoga (CV-60) 1992 Cruise Sweatshirt

The USS Saratoga (CV-60) was a Forrestal-class aircraft carrier commissioned on April 14, 1956, and homeported at Naval Station Mayport, Florida. Named for the 1777 Battles of Saratoga that helped secure American independence. The 1992 Mediterranean deployment came in the aftermath of Desert Storm glory and as a new crisis was emerging in the former Yugoslavia, requiring sustained Sixth Fleet carrier presence across a rapidly shifting strategic environment. This was among Saratoga's final Mediterranean cruises before her decommissioning in 1994 after nearly four decades of distinguished service. This sweatshirt commemorates the crew of USS Saratoga who served during the 1992 cruise.
