USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) is a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier commissioned on 25 October 1986 and known as "The Big Stick" in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt's famous foreign policy maxim. This sweatshirt commemorates her 1988-89 deployment — her second major cruise — to the Mediterranean Sea and Indian Ocean as she established herself as a premier power projection platform of the Atlantic Fleet. Crew and air wing veterans of that deployment will recognize this as a lasting tribute to the men and women who served together on that cruise.
