A Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser commissioned on January 6, 1985, Vincennes was homeported in San Diego, California. Named for the Battle of Vincennes (1779), in which American frontiersman George Rogers Clark captured the British fort at Vincennes, Indiana, in a bold winter campaign that secured the Northwest Territory for the young United States, Vincennes carried that spirit of resolve into her service. She deployed to the Persian Gulf during Operation Earnest Will, protecting neutral shipping during the Iran–Iraq Tanker War of the late 1980s. Vincennes was decommissioned on June 29, 2005. This sweatshirt features the ship's official crest.
