This framed photo captures USS Ranger (CV-61) during her 1990-91 Persian Gulf deployment for Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. Departing Alameda December 8, 1990, Ranger and Carrier Air Wing TWO transited to the North Arabian Sea and then into the Persian Gulf, where she launched strike sorties against Iraqi forces beginning January 17, 1991. She remained on station throughout the air campaign and the 100-hour ground war, returning home in June 1991 after one of the most intense combat tempos of any carrier in the Gulf War. This framed ship photo is a tribute to her crew and the legacy of Ranger's final combat deployment.
