USS Vincennes (CG-49) was the second ship of the Ticonderoga class, commissioned July 6, 1985 at Pascagoula, Mississippi and named for Vincennes, Indiana — and her predecessor warships of the same name, including the WWII heavy cruiser sunk at the Battle of Savannah. Homeported at NAS North Island, San Diego, Vincennes served the Pacific Fleet for nearly twenty years across deployments to the Persian Gulf and Western Pacific. She was decommissioned June 29, 2005 after one of the Tico class's longer first-decade careers. This framed ship photo is a tribute to her crew and the legacy of one of the earliest Aegis cruisers in the fleet.
