HSC-4 Black Knights

Established in 1956 and based at NAS North Island, the Black Knights of HSC-4 are one of the Navy's most storied helicopter sea combat squadrons—flying logistics, search and rescue, and special operations support for West Coast carrier battle groups across seven decades of continuous service. They have deployed aboard carriers to every theater from the Pacific to the Persian Gulf, doing the essential vertical work that keeps a battle group alive and mobile. The Black Knights emblem represents a tradition of combat readiness and excellence that spans generations of helicopter crews.
