USS Buffalo (SSN-715) was a Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine commissioned November 5, 1983, named for the proud city of Buffalo, New York. She slipped beneath the waves during the final chapters of the Cold War, hunting in the deep ocean where no surface sailor could follow. For more than a decade, Buffalo's crew operated in silence — tracking adversaries, collecting intelligence, and standing ready to strike if called upon. She was decommissioned September 26, 1998, having served through some of the most consequential years in American history. Quiet service is still service, and the crew of SSN-715 answered the call every day they were underway.
