USS Buffalo

Commissioned in 1983, the Buffalo is a Los Angeles-class nuclear attack submarine named for the western New York city at the foot of Niagara Falls. The Buffalo served the Pacific Fleet through the Cold War and into the 2000s, a quiet presence in the Pacific depths during decades when the undersea competition with potential adversaries never fully ceased. She was decommissioned in 2012.
