USS Chung-Hoon

Commissioned in 2004, the Chung-Hoon honors Rear Admiral Gordon Pai'ea Chung-Hoon, a Hawaiian-born Naval Academy graduate who commanded USS Sigsbee at Okinawa under relentless kamikaze attack and earned two Navy Crosses for his conduct under fire. He became one of the first Chinese-American officers to command a Navy warship and helped integrate the fleet long before it was required by policy. The Chung-Hoon is homeported at Pearl Harbor—close to the waters where her namesake made his mark.
