USS Decatur

Commissioned in 1998, the Decatur honors Commodore Stephen Decatur, the swashbuckling hero of the Barbary Wars whose victories over Tripolitan corsairs and British warships made him the most celebrated naval officer of his era. His toast—'Our country, right or wrong'—became one of the most quoted statements in American history. The Decatur serves the Pacific Fleet and has deployed to both the Persian Gulf and Western Pacific.
