The Denver was an Austin-class amphibious transport dock that served the Pacific Fleet for decades, carrying Marines and their equipment from California to the farthest reaches of the Western Pacific. She participated in operations through the Vietnam era and throughout the Cold War, deploying wherever the fleet needed her. Decommissioned in 1991, she was a reliable ship that gave her crew everything she had. For the Marines who rode her to sea, Denver was their ride into the unknown.
