USS Estocin

Commissioned in 1981, the Estocin honors Commander Michael Jerome Estocin, a Navy aviator who flew five strikes against North Vietnamese SAM sites around Haiphong in April 1967—repeatedly pressing his attacks through intense anti-aircraft fire and twice flying despite battle damage—before being shot down and killed on his final mission. He was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously. The Estocin served the Atlantic Fleet until her decommissioning in 1996.
