USS John Paul Jones

Commissioned in 1993, the John Paul Jones honors Captain John Paul Jones, the father of the American Navy and the most celebrated naval hero of the Revolutionary War. His declaration—'I have not yet begun to fight!'—shouted from the deck of the burning Bonhomme Richard during his battle with HMS Serapis—remains the defining statement of American naval defiance. The John Paul Jones is homeported in Pearl Harbor and has served across the Pacific.
