USS Kidd crest
Commissioned in 2004, the Kidd honors Rear Admiral Isaac C. Kidd Sr., who was killed aboard his flagship USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941—the highest-ranking American naval officer killed that day. Kidd had been on the bridge when the Japanese struck; he was never seen again. His name has been carried on American destroyers since 1943, and the Kidd continues that tradition across deployments in both fleets.
