USS Klakring

Commissioned in 1983, the Klakring honors Rear Admiral Thomas Burton Klakring, a submarine commander who became one of the leading patrol aces of the Pacific War, sinking more than 20 Japanese ships across his patrols. Klakring was an aggressive and inventive tactician who helped develop the submarine warfare doctrine that strangled Japanese logistics across the Pacific. The Klakring was decommissioned in 1999.
