USS Louisville (SSN-724) is a Los Angeles-class nuclear-powered fast attack submarine commissioned on 8 November 1986 at Groton, Connecticut. Named for Louisville, Kentucky, she earned distinction as one of the first submarines to fire Tomahawk cruise missiles in combat during Operation Desert Storm in January 1991, launching missiles from the Red Sea. SSN-724 went on to participate in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, again firing Tomahawks in the opening strikes of the campaign.
