USS Memphis

Commissioned in 1977, the Memphis is a Los Angeles-class nuclear attack submarine named for Tennessee's largest city on the Mississippi—home of the blues, of Graceland, and one of America's great river cultures. She served the Atlantic Fleet through the Cold War and into the late 1990s, patrolling the deep Atlantic in the tradition of American undersea warfare. She was decommissioned in 2002.
