USS Miami

Commissioned in 1990, the Miami is an improved 688i Los Angeles-class nuclear attack submarine named for Florida's subtropical gateway city. She served the Atlantic Fleet before being decommissioned in 2014 following a catastrophic fire set by a shipyard worker during a maintenance period in Portsmouth, New Hampshire—one of the most unusual causes of a submarine's loss in American naval history. Her career ended too soon.
