USS Peleliu (LHA-5) was a Tarawa-class amphibious assault ship commissioned on May 3, 1980, and named for the Battle of Peleliu in September-November 1944, one of the most costly island battles of the Pacific War. The Marines and soldiers who fought at Peleliu endured some of the heaviest combat of the entire conflict to seize a small but heavily fortified Japanese position in the Palau Islands. The ship that bore their battle's name served the Navy-Marine Corps team with distinction for thirty-five years before her decommissioning on March 31, 2015. This vinyl sticker features the official ship's crest and is a weatherproof tribute to the crew who served with honor aboard USS Peleliu.
