USS Portsmouth (SSN-707) is a Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine commissioned on October 1, 1983, and homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Named for the city of Portsmouth, New Hampshire — home to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and one of the oldest naval communities in America — she conducted strategic deterrence and fleet support operations throughout the Cold War and into the post-Cold War era before her decommissioning on March 27, 1998.
