USS Stout

Commissioned in 1994, the Stout honors Rear Admiral Harold E. Stout, who commanded Atlantic destroyer forces during World War II and oversaw convoy escort operations that helped keep the vital supply lines between America and Britain open against the German U-boat campaign. The Battle of the Atlantic was won in part by destroyer officers like Stout who understood that patience and persistence ultimately break a submarine. The Stout serves the Atlantic Fleet.
