The Tortuga, commissioned in 1990, is a Harpers Ferry-class dock landing ship with a name that carries just enough swagger for a ship built to land Marines on hostile shores. Named for the historic Caribbean island, she served in both Atlantic and Pacific Fleets, participating in operations from Desert Storm to humanitarian missions in the Caribbean and Pacific. Her crew always had the right spirit to match her name.
