Commissioned in 2009, the Truxtun honors Commodore Thomas Truxtun, one of the six original captains of the United States Navy, who commanded USS Constellation in two storied single-ship victories against French frigates during the Quasi-War of 1798 and 1800. Truxtun drilled his crews relentlessly and proved that discipline and training could prevail at sea. The Truxtun serves the Atlantic Fleet.
