USS Yellowstone

Commissioned in 1980, the Yellowstone is a destroyer tender that served the Atlantic Fleet through the Cold War. Like all destroyer tenders, she provided the repair, maintenance, and resupply capabilities that kept forward-deployed destroyer squadrons operational without constant transit back to major naval bases. Named for America's first national park, she served the fleet until her decommissioning in 1996.
