This commemorative photo captures USS Ranger (CV-61) on her final voyage — the 1992-93 Western Pacific deployment that closed out thirty-six years of service. Departing Alameda in August 1992, she steamed into the Persian Gulf as part of Operation Southern Watch and supported Operation Restore Hope off Somalia before turning for home. Her last arrival at North Island in March 1993 marked the end of the line for the most heavily deployed Forrestal-class carrier in Navy history. She was decommissioned July 10, 1993. This framed ship photo is a tribute to her crew and the legacy of one of the Pacific Fleet's hardest-working warships at the moment her colors came down for the last time.
