USS Detroit

Commissioned in 1970, the Detroit is a Sacramento-class fast combat support ship that served the Atlantic Fleet through the Cold War and into the 1990s. Named for Michigan's Motor City, the Detroit carried fuel, ammunition, and stores to carrier battle groups at sea, enabling the sustained operations that define American naval power projection. She was decommissioned in 1995 after 25 years of service.
