USS Kidd

The Kidd, commissioned in 1981 as a Kidd-class guided-missile destroyer, was one of the most capable surface combatants of the Cold War—a Spruance-class hull with a full AAW suite originally ordered by Iran's Imperial Navy before the 1979 revolution. She earned the nickname 'Darth Vader's ship' from sailors who admired her aggressive profile and distinctive twin stacks. After Cold War service with the Atlantic and Pacific Fleets, she was transferred to Taiwan in 2005, where she now serves the Republic of China Navy as ROCS Kee Lung.
