USS Ohio

Commissioned in 1981 as SSBN-726 and converted to a cruise missile submarine (SSGN) in 2002, the Ohio was the lead ship of the Ohio class of ballistic missile submarines—and then the lead ship of the SSGN conversion program as well. She is the only American submarine to have led two different submarine classes. Now carrying 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles and capable of deploying special operations forces, the Ohio continues to project power in ways her designers never imagined.
