USS Salt Lake City

Commissioned in 1984, the Salt Lake City is a Los Angeles-class nuclear attack submarine named for Utah's capital city at the foot of the Wasatch Range. A landlocked desert state sending its name into the deep Pacific might seem unlikely, but Utah has consistently supplied the Navy with dedicated, capable sailors across its history. The Salt Lake City served the Pacific Fleet before her decommissioning in 2006.
