USS Stephen W. Groves

Commissioned in 1982, the Stephen W. Groves is an Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided-missile frigate that served the Atlantic Fleet through the Cold War. Like all ships of her class, she performed the anti-submarine warfare and maritime patrol missions that defined the Perry class—the backbone of the surface Navy in the 1980s. She was decommissioned in 2005 after 23 years of fleet service.
